About Biltong drying
There are many different biltong drying solutions that can be offered, and these depends on a number of factors including among others;
• Physical location of the drying facility.
• Capacity of meat to be dried.
• Type of meat (thin pieces, thick pieces, chips, wors, etc.)
• Site/Factory space constraints (CFW can custom designs to any clients need)
• Client’s specific preferences in terms of drying conditions (drying temperature and humidity ranges).
Different drying systems CFW can offer:
• Simple heat and vent drying
• Closed system heat pump dehumidifier drying
• Open system heat pump dehumidifier drying
• Desiccant dehumidifier drying
• Hybrid drying systems
Drying Consistency
Biltong is a high value food product and there are huge financial losses associated with over-drying and under-drying, besides the impact on customer satisfaction associated with inconsistency.
Over-drying
Results in excessive drying costs and reduces the mass of product and therefore a direct loss of income.
Under-drying
Can impact on the shelf-life of the product and have product returned as mouldy or have customers complaints.
CFW drying equipment is very flexible and can easily be set up to achieve even drying and produce high quality Biltong.

Engineering Services
To ensure that the installed Biltong Drying System meets the expectations of the end user it is important to go through an engagement process whereby the client’s expectations are properly documented and discussed so that CFW’s expertise can be merged with the client’s requirements and the site-specific space constraints and process flow to formulate the most appropriate solution.
Maintenance Considerations
Equipment that is compact and at lower first cost, can often leave the end user with recurring excessive service and maintenance costs because of inconvenient equipment accessibility for cleaning / service and maintenance. Where possible, CFW prefers to incorporate features for more convenient servicing of equipment even though this adds to the initial capital expense. The long-term operational convenience and cost savings more than compensate for the investment in maintenance.
Service Agreements
Service Level Agreements is available for all our customers to ensure that the customer gets the long-term benefits out of the installed equipment.
